SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin construction this week on a $156 million project aimed at improving traffic flow and safety along Loop 410 on the North Side, according to a news release.
The Loop 410 San Pedro Improvements project includes safety and mobility enhancements along Loop 410 from West Avenue to Broadway and along U.S. Highway 281 between Nakoma Drive and Loop 410.
The first phase will target the stretch between West Avenue and San Pedro Avenue. TxDOT said most lane closures will happen overnight, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
Planned improvements include ramp modifications, frontage road enhancements and intersection improvements, the release states. When finished, TxDOT expects the improvements to cut travel times by up to 70% and reduce crashes in the area.
The project is slated to be completed in 2029, according to the release.
