More than a tonne of litter has been collected in three days at a Surrey beauty spot, a council has said.

Guildford Borough Council contractors were clearing rubbish along a stretch of the A31 at the Hog’s Back, near Guildford.

A council spokesperson said although they are supporting the Great British Spring Clean this year volunteers were reminded to not pick up litter on busy roads.

“Residents are encouraged to choose safe locations such as parks, residential streets and open spaces,” a council spokesperson said.
