With Notre Dame and Wisconsin set to face off in their Shamrock Series matchup at Lambeau Field on Sept. 6, the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame has unveiled a new exhibit for visitors to learn more about the former Notre Dame football player and co-founder of the Green Bay Packers.
The temporary exhibit, titled “6 Degrees of Curly Lambeau,” looks back at Lambeau’s connections to both Notre Dame and Wisconsin. The exhibit explores Lambeau’s 1918 season at Notre Dame, his relationship with Wisconsin and the multiple Badgers players he recruited to play for the Packers.
The exhibit also explores how Lambeau recommended several local Green Bay players to Knute Rockne’s Fighting Irish. Among them was Jim Crowley, who starred for Notre Dame and gained fame as one of the legendary “Four Horsemen.” Crowley eventually became a coach himself at Fordham University, coaching a guard by the name of Vince Lombardi, the future Packers head coach and Hall of Famer.
The exhibit is located on the first floor of the Packers Hall of Fame. The Packers Hall of Fame is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on non-gameday Sundays.
