While a panel of respected industry experts evaluated each performance based on musicality, creativity and stage presence, fans also played a key role in determining which performers advanced throughout the competition.
The combination of expert judging and audience involvement created a uniquely interactive competition that celebrated both artistry and community pride.

We brought Chicago the party, the singing, the dancing, and I’m proud of my team and all the people behind it and work that went into this.
Throughout the competition, Becerra impressed both judges and fans with standout performances that demonstrated musical versatility, cultural authenticity and strong stage presence.
Following themed challenges and crowd-favorite moments including the event’s signature Zapateo round, Becerra was crowned champion, earning regional bragging rights and joining the growing legacy of Red Bull Banda Choque winners.
“We like playing this music because it’s what we grew up with, and now we’re bringing it to the new generations to make sure they like it just as much. It was an honor and a pleasure to be here in Chicago and represent the music culture of LA and all the Chicanos out here,” said Ernesto Garcia, frontman of the 2026 Banda Choque-winning group, Neto Becerra.
