Delivery driver who didn’t speak English causes scare near Trump visit in NE Ohio – Cleveland 19 News

HARPERSFIELD, Ohio (WOIO) – A delivery driver who does not speak English caused the scare at the McDonald’s near SPIRE Academy Tuesday morning.
President Donald Trump attended the Patriot Games at SPIRE Academy Tuesday evening.
According to Ashtabula County Sheriff William Niemi, a deputy spotted the delivery driver’s white Sprinter van at the Harpersfield McDonald’s.
When the deputy attempted to speak to the driver, a cell phone translation app was used.
Sheriff Niemi said the Lake County Bomb Squad’s K-9 was sent to the scene and indicated a positive alert on the van.
As a precaution, local businesses and roadways were closed during the investigation.

A short time later, deputies determined no threat had occurred.
Sheriff Niemi added the driver, a resident of Staten Island, New York, who is from the Ukraine, had made a delivery of “confetti canons” to the Patriot Games.
