The Board of Directors met at The View Hotel in Agadir (Morocco) on 26 & 27 September for its third meeting in 2026, ahead of the FIM World Rally-Raid Championship event to be held in the south of Agadir (Morocco) from 28 September to 3 October 2026.
On this occasion, the Board addressed several topics, in particular the following:
Sport: All disciplines were reviewed with a focus on the promotion contracts for the FIM World Supercross Championship, the FIM World Rally-Raid Championship, the FIM Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup and the FIM E-Bike Enduro World Cup. The impact of the current situation in the Middle East on the FIM World Championship events, such as the MotoGP in Qatar and the Dakar in Saudi Arabia, was addressed. A progress report on the next edition of the FIM Intercontinental Games to take place in Goiânia (Brazil) from 11 to 13 December 2026 was shared. The Board approved amendments to classes and categories to the FIM World Championships and Prizes. The FIM homologated helmets phase 2 (FRHPhe-02) was successfully introduced across all FIM World Championships & Prizes since 1 January 2026. A roadmap for the implementation of the FIM homologated airbags phase 1 (FRHPab-01) was presented to the Board. The use of a functional/operational airbag system will be highly recommended as of 2027 and mandatory as of 2028 in the FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP/MX2/Women) and in the FIM Motorcross of Nations. An update on the sound reduction measures implemented in off-road and circuit-racing disciplines was given.
Finance: The Board agreed on the 2027 budget which will be presented to the General Assembly for approval. Additionally, the Board approved an increase of 5% applicable to FIM homologation fees for motorcycles as of 2027. In addition, the updated 2026 forecast was shared.
Situation in Ukraine: The Board of Directors reiterated its sympathy and solidarity with all those suffering, as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. After having carefully considered the situation, the Board once again confirmed the decisions made during its extraordinary meeting on 5 March 2022. One of the consequences of these decisions is that no Russian and Belarusian riders, teams and officials can participate in FIM events and activities (FIM World Championships and FIM Prize Events) until further notice. The FIM will continue to monitor the evolution of the situation, taking into account the specificity of motorcycle sport.
Affiliations: The Board decided to submit the affiliations of Timor Leste (FMCTL), Lesotho (LORA), Maldives (RAM) as well as Vietnam (VMF) for approval to the General Assembly.
Insurance: The Board approved the extension of the FIM Event Licence to the National Meetings Open to Foreign Participation (NMFP).
Operations: The new FIM clothing, to be introduced as from 2027, was presented to the Board. Acerbis Italia S.p.A was selected as the new FIM official clothing supplier and “FIM Global Partner”.
Liaison with FMNs/CONUs: The Board approved amendments to the FIM Europe Statutes. The next FMN/CONU Secretaries General meeting will be hosted by the Automobile and Touring Club of Egypt (ATCE) in Cairo (Egypt) on 6 & 7 October 2026.
Communication: The upcoming structure of the Communication Department was presented.
Marketing and Digital: An update on the FIM-moto.tv broadcasting platform, the social media, the FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) marking its 100^th edition in 2026, the FIM Trial World Championship, the new visual identity for the FIM Sand Races World Championship as well as the marketing activities for the FIM Awards was delivered.
Racing Motorcycle Museum (RMM): A progress report on the RMM operations since its opening mid-February 2026, including the number of visitors, the promotional actions and the Paddock Café activities was shared. The temporary exhibition dedicated to the celebration of the 100^th edition of the ISDE was recently opened.
International Foundation for Motorcycling (IFM): The Board was informed that the 2025 audited financial statements and management report had been approved by the Foundation Board as well as the Swiss supervisory authority for the foundations. It was also reported that the mandates of all IFM Board Members would terminate at the end of 2026. Appointments for the 2027-2030 term will be confirmed during the next IFM Board meeting. In addition, the IFM encourages the participation of women in the 2026 editions of the ISDE and FIM Trial des Nations, by making financial subsidies available to FMNs registering women riders for these FIM events.
Amendments to Codes and Regulations: The Board approved amendments to By-Laws and Sporting Code as well as licences and calendar fees that will be submitted to the 2026 General Assembly for consideration. Several amendments to the Disciplinary Code, Medical Code and to the Code of Ethics were also validated by the Board.
Commissions: The following change was made to the composition of the CTR: new expert – Ms Sara TRENTINI, FIM Technical Adviser for the Sections for the FIM Women’s Trial World Championship and FIM Women’s Trial des Nations. The Board further ratified the withdrawal of CTR expert, Ms Donna FOX.
Awards & Recognition: The Board awarded distinctions as well as honorary memberships, subject to approval by the General Assembly.
General Assemblies and FIM Awards: A progress report on the 2026 and 2027 General Assemblies and FIM Awards to be held on 4 & 5 December 2026 in Málaga (Spain) and on 10 & 11 December 2027 in Doha (Qatar) respectively were provided.
Commissions Conference: Information related to the 2027 Commissions Conference to take place on 13 & 14 February 2027 in Divonne-les-Bains (France) and Mies (Switzerland) was presented to the Board. The 2028 Commissions Conference will take place on 5 & 6 February 2028 in Divonne-les-Bains (France) and Mies (Switzerland).
The CONU Presidents, Board Committees, Working Groups and Departments of the Administration presented their progress reports on their respective projects.
