JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – The Mississippi Book Festival is happening this month, and organizers have announced a sponsorship behind their push to get more children reading.

Atmos Energy announced a $10,000 contribution to the festival’s children’s literacy program.

The money goes toward the festival’s 85th anniversary celebration of Curious George, as well as the “Turning the Page” program that brings authors and books to children across the state.

Actress Kate McKinnon, known for her work on “Saturday Night Live,” will host a conversation for her book.

Hip-hop artist Rick Ross will discuss his new book.

Other Mississippi-based authors will appear on panels at multiple locations in downtown Jackson.

The book festival is set to begin Sept. 26 at 9 a.m.
