Penn State Health names leaders for transformation and strategy

Penn State Health has appointed Dr. Marthe Haverkamp as vice president of transformation and Matthew Kemmann as vice president of strategy, enhancing the health system’s leadership team as it advances strategic priorities and long-term growth initiatives. Both joined Penn State Health on Sept. 21.

As vice president of transformation, Haverkamp will lead enterprise-wide efforts focused on operational excellence, performance improvement and data-driven decision-making. A physician executive with extensive experience in health care transformation, she most recently served as a senior leader in the Healthcare Industry Group at Alvarez & Marsal, a global professional services firm.

Throughout her career, Haverkamp has partnered with academic medical centers, health systems and physician organizations to improve performance, expand access to care and advance sustainable change initiatives.

As vice president of strategy, Kemmann will help execute Penn State Health’s enterprise strategic plan. He brings nearly two decades of experience in strategic planning, business development, analytics and growth strategy. Most recently, he served as director of strategic planning and analytics at University Hospitals Health System in northeast Ohio.

“Together, Marthe and Matthew bring highly complementary expertise that will help Penn State Health further align strategy and execution and respond to a rapidly evolving health care environment,” said Mumtaz Darbar, executive vice president and chief transformation officer for Penn State Health. “I am excited about the leadership, expertise and perspective they bring to our organization and look forward to the impact they will make as we continue advancing our mission.”

In their respective roles, Haverkamp and Kemmann will work closely with leaders across Penn State Health to support operational excellence, strategic growth and the delivery of high-quality care to the communities the health system serves.
