Aspirus Health offers tips on how to tell if you are suffering from allergies or a cold
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – As allergy season approaches, you might wonder if the symptoms you are experiencing are from allergies, or potentially a cold.
Aspirus Health says due to overlap in symptoms between the two, there are several key symptoms to watch for to know for sure which one you are suffering from. If you are experiencing itchy eyes or an itchy throat, it is most likely allergies. If body aches are part of your symptoms, then you are most likely suffering from a cold. A runny nose is consistent between both allergies and colds.
Aspirus Health Pharmacy Resident Kenneth Yuke says if you are experiencing allergy symptoms, you should be cautious on which medications to take.
“Some of these tablets that you take once daily can make you a little bit drowsy. It’s different from person to person,” Yuke said. “So, if you’re leaning towards the older side, or at risk of increased falls already, then I would be cautious in taking these tablets.”
Yuke says you should also speak with your doctor or a pharmacist before trying new medications.
