Images from around La Guaira, Venezuela show the extent of damage following back-to-back major earthquakes on Wednesday night. The death toll is expected to rise as search and rescue efforts continue.
CLOVERDALE, Cali. – A magnitude 4.3 earthquake rattled Northern California on Tuesday night, marking the latest quake to happen along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said it happened about five miles away from Cloverdale, California, at 7:40 p.m. local time.

The earthquake struck at a depth of 3.4 miles, and people in the immediate area have reported feeling the shaking, according to the USGS. This includes San Francisco and San Jose.

There have been a few aftershocks reported in the area following the earthquake, the USGS said.
It’s the latest earthquake to rattle the Pacific Ring of Fire, which is a 25,000-mile belt of volcanoes and earthquake zones surrounding much of the Pacific Ocean.
Earlier in the day, a series of earthquakes, including a magnitude 6.8, shook Japan. Nearly a dozen fires broke out and a building partially collapsed, triggering hundreds of emergency calls.

Other notable earthquakes have occurred in the area this year, including a magnitude 3.7 in June and a magnitude 4.2 earthquake in January, respectively.
No major damage or injuries have been reported at this time.
