Indiana Senate Democrats host listening session in Elkhart

Indiana Senate Democrats gathering in Elkhart today.

Hearing from Hoosiers about topics impacting them and what they should focus on in the 2027 budget.

Topics discussed ranged from healthcare, housing, farming and affordability.

With residents being able to speak about the areas that directly impact them and tell senators the work they want to see done.

For Senator Fady Qaddoura, making sure citizens voices are heard as lawmakers work on the 2027 state budget is a necessity.

“We’re not here to solicit political support. We are here to solicit your thoughts, your feedback, your ideas, so that we can represent you well, and we can urge our colleagues to listen to you, to listen to your concerns. I think we are better as a state when we hear the voices of everyone, and when we work collaboratively to advance good public policy,” Qaddoura said.

Senators also urging everyone to register to vote in the upcoming midterms.

The deadline to register is Monday, October 5th.
