122 Athletes Receive D2 ADA Athletic Achievement Award
PENSACOLA, Fla. – A total of 122 University of West Florida student-athletes earned the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award, as announced Thursday afternoon. The Argos led the Gulf South Conference with the highest number of honorees.
The D2 ADA is the first organization of its kind to provide educational and networking opportunities; enhancement of acceptable operating standards and ethics; and establishment of the overall prestige and understanding of the profession of Division II athletics directors.
Now in its 18th year, the Academic Achievement Awards program recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the NCAA Division II level. To qualify, recipients must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.00 scale and have completed a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college coursework.
This year marked a milestone for the program, with a record 22,756 student-athletes from 202 institutions earning the award.
UWF honorees represented a wide range of sports, including football, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s golf, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis, softball, and baseball.
