Men’s Soccer Adds Defender to 2025 Roster

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland men’s soccer has announced the addition of Farouk Cisse to its 2025 roster. A Bonn, Germany native, Farouk Cisse will look to make an immediate impact on the 2025 season as soon as Monday night at Georgetown.

Cisse played club soccer for Borussia Dortmund from 2019-23 that featured a championship winning season in 2022. Over his years with Dortmund, the defender played in 48 matches, making 42 starts. The 48 matches saw Cisse play in over 3,000 minutes for the club. Cisse attended Konrad Klepping Berufskolleg for high school in Dortmund, Germany.

“I’m delighted to welcome Farouk to our 2025 class. He is an exceptional talent that will impact our team this season. His youth team experiences with clubs like Dortmund (Germany), Genoa (Italy), Standard Liege (Belgium), and country (Germany) will serve him well as he transitions to the college game. He is comfortable anywhere on the back line, as well as defensive central midfield,” stated head coach Sasho Cirovski.
