The Florida Democratic Party denounces the imminent Republican led Government shutdown. Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. Rather than working across the aisle to solve problems and deliver for the American people, Republicans are holding the government hostage, threatening essential services for veterans, seniors, and working families.
Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried released the following statement:
“By forcing a government shutdown, Republicans are putting Florida families, our economy, and our national security at risk. While Democrats are focused on protecting health care and ensuring hardworking Americans can thrive, Republicans are manufacturing another crisis.”
Republicans rejected bipartisan solutions to prevent this shutdown now, health care costs for 22 million Americans are about to skyrocket by an average of 75% because Republicans failed to extend ACA premium tax credits in their budget bill, and that’s on top of the 15 million Americans who are going to lose health care thanks to Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill. Democrats are united: protect health care, lower costs, and keep the government working for the people.
