NORTH PLAINS, Ore. — The Wisconsin men’s golf team is in 16th after Round 1 of the Big Ten Championships at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course in North Plains, Oregon.
Graduate student Jacob Beckman leads the way in 16th at one-over He had a scintillating front-nine, going -3 with three straight birdies at the turn. Despite an up-and-down back-nine, the Wisconsin native is only four strokes behind the lead in a packed field. Beckman also has the second-most birdies in the field with five.
Senior Spencer Turtz is in 41st at +3, recovering from early bogeys with an even-par back-nine to carry momentum into Saturday.
Jason Shwartz and Drew Sacia are both in 69th at +6, rounding out the scoring for UW. Charles Erlandson sits in 87th at +10.
