In the height of a heatwave, there’s certain criteria for any good top or blouse to live up to. At least, until the temperature (finally) dips back below 28 degrees…

Whether it’s at the neckline or hem, these contemporary styles feature adjustable ties, cords or strings to gather the fabric, creating a ruched or cinched effect in seconds. Historically, drawstrings have been a fixture within boho fashion in particular – think peasant blouses, milkmaid tops with drawstring busts or smock-style tops with ties at the waist.
