Eagles Fly to Milwaukee for Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 12 Boston College men’s hockey team travels to Milwaukee to play in the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off at Fiserv Forum, home of the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks. The Eagles take on No. 7/8 Western Michigan on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. CT on B1G+ along with a radio broadcast on WEEI 850 AM. Depending on Sunday’s results, BC will face either No. 2 Wisconsin or Lake Superior State on Monday at 4:00 p.m. CT or 7:30 p.m. CT.
 
SETTING THE SCENE
• The Eagles improved to 10-5-1 overall and 7-3-0 in Hockey East after sweeping UMass Lowell back on the first weekend of December
• The Broncos are 10-6-0 overall and 6-4-0 in the NCHC after splitting with No. 4 Minnesota Duluth on Dec. 5-6
• Wisconsin is currently 12-2-2 overall and 8-2-0 in the B1G and is coming off a weekend sweep over Notre Dame
• Lake Superior State is 6-11-1 overall and 3-9-0 in the CCHA and is coming off a split weekend against St. Thomas in league play
• BC moved up to No. 12 in both the USCHO.com and USA Hockey national polls
• Western Michigan sits seventh in the USCHO.com poll and eighth in the USA Hockey poll
• Wisconsin is ranked No. 2 in both national polls
 
CONFERENCE WEEKEND SWEEP
• The Eagles picked up back-to-back 3-1 wins over UMass Lowell to close out the first half of the season
Dean Letourneau scored twice on the power play in Friday’s win before adding another goal on Saturday
Jake Sondreal had a four-point weekend, finishing with three assists on Friday and a goal on Saturday
James Hagens picked up the game-winning goal in Friday’s victory
Lukas Gustafsson tallied a power play goal in Saturday’s win
Louka Cloutier made 50 saves over the two games
 
THE EAGLES
• J. Hagens has a team-high 18 points and 10 goals
• Letourneau and Sondreal are tied for second with 17
• Sondreal leads the Eagles in assists with 11 and Luka Radivojevic is second with nine
Ryan Conmy, Teddy Stiga, and Will Vote are also in double digits for points with 11 each
Nolan Joyce leads the team in blocks with 19, while Aram Minnetian and Will Skahan are right behind with 18
• Cloutier has an 10-3-1 record this season with a .918 save percentage and 2.01 goals against average
 
HOCKEY EAST AWARDS
• Letourneau was named the Hockey East Player of the Week after his three-goal weekend
• Gustafsson was recognized as the league’s Army ROTC Defender of the Week
 
EAGLES AT WORLD JUNIORS
• Three Eagles will compete at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship
• J. Hagens and Stiga will represent the United States, after having both played on the team last year
• Radivojevic will play for Slovakia for the third-straight World Junior Championship
• Additionally, Schiller Family Head Coach Greg Brown will be serving as an assistant coach for Team USA
 
A LOOK AT WESTERN MICHIGAN
• The Broncos have won five of their last six games
• Western Michigan dropped a 4-1 decision to Minnesota Duluth on Dec. 5 before bouncing back with a 3-2 overtime victory the following night
• Grant Slukynsky and William Whitelaw have a team-high 15 points
• Whitelaw leads the team in goals with nine, while Slukynsky has a team-high 12 assists
• Hampton Slukynsky has started all 16 games between the pipes, making 353 saves and has a .887 save percentage and a 2.83 goals against average
 
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THE BRONCOS
• The Eagles are 1-0-0 all-time against the Broncos
• The two teams met for the first time ever last season at Kelley Rink, which ended in a 4-2 victory for BC
 
A LOOK AT WISCONSIN
• Wisconsin has won its last five games with a win over Ohio State, and sweeps over No. 1 Michigan State and Notre Dame
• Gavin Morrissey leads the Badgers in points (18) and assists (15)
• Christian Fitzgerald has a team-high 10 goals
• Daniel Hauser has started 13 games in goal and boasts a .915 save percentage and a 2.17 goals against average
• Logan Hensler and Luke Osborn were selected to the preliminary roster for the United States at the World Junior Championship
• Quinn Finley will be representing the U.S. Collegiate Selects at the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland

• William Ahlrik leads the team in points (16) and assists (12)
• Calem Mangone boasts a team-high eight goals
• Adam Barone and Ryan Beck are both in double digits for assists with 10 each
• Rorke Applebee has started 13 games in goal for the Lakers and has a 2.73 goals against average and a .921 save percentage
 
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THE LAKERS
• The Eagles are 1-1-0 all-time against the Lakers
• They last played each other on December 29, 1983 at the Minnesota-Duluth Holiday Classic, which ended in a 6-4 win for the Eagles
 
NHL NOTES
• Four Eagles have started between the pipes in the NHL this season, each with a start on Tuesday, December 16; Thatcher Demko (Vancouver), Jacob Fowler (Montreal), Spencer Knight (Chicago), Joseph Woll (Toronto)
• No other school has had more than one goalie play in the NHL this year
