OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton paid a visit to Omaha on Saturday to show her support for Democrats on top of many Nebraskans’ November ballots.

The event, called Pumpkins, Pies, and Politics, looked to mobilize voters ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Clinton told a room of several hundred supporters that Nebraska Democrats are making a difference.

“I think you have doubled the number of elected Democratic officials. You’re really on a roll, and now we just have to keep going,” Clinton said.

Candidates speak before Clinton takes stage

Before Clinton took the stage Saturday at a fundraising event with Nebraska Democrats, Democratic candidates running for offices up and down the ballot each spoke to the crowd, making their case and urging people to vote blue next month.

Omaha Mayor John Ewing presented Clinton with the key to the city.

Clinton addresses health care costs

Once Clinton took questions, she did not hold back on the Trump administration, pointing to health care cuts and rising costs.

“We have an affordability crisis, whether the folks in Washington recognize it or not, and we’ve got to tackle all of the hard, hard challenges that families are facing,” Clinton said.

She also made a direct appeal to Nebraska’s congressional races, naming both districts and the state’s Senate race.

“I want to see Nebraska 1 and Nebraska 2 go Democratic. I want to see you send an independent who’s got common sense to the Senate,” Clinton said.

Clinton discusses women in public office

Clinton also fielded a question about encouraging women to run for office, drawing on her own experience balancing family and public life.

Clinton pointed to what she calls a coordinated push against women in public life but said that hasn’t stopped women with decades of service from stepping up.

“So this is all what’s at stake on the ballot in November – that we have got to do our very best to help make the connection for people so that they know they’re literally voting to lower prices. They’re voting to hold people accountable. And then we can maybe get back to doing the work of the people in a democracy, which is what we need to be about,” Clinton said.

Nebraskans will head to the polls Nov. 3.

More Nebraska campaign stops

Her visit comes as Dr. Mehmet Oz is making appearances alongside Nebraska’s 3rd District Congressman Adrian Smith on Friday and Gov. Jim Pillen on Saturday morning.

President Trump also came to Nebraska this week to offer support to Pillen, Smith, Sen. Pete Ricketts, and Rep. Mike Flood.
