LEXINGTON, Ky. – After leading TCU volleyball to one of its best starts to a season in program history, sophomores Evan Hendrix and Becca Kelley were added to the watch list for the AVCA’s 2025 Division I Player of the Year Award presented by Nike Volleyball, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Friday.

The original list includes 30 players from 20 schools, featuring some of the top talent in the nation. A total of 17 student-athletes are being added by the AVCA at the halfway point of the season, which includes the Horned Frog duo.

TCU’s early season-success has been fueled by Hendrix and Kelley’s play. The 12th-ranked Frogs have knocked off a program record six ranked opponents, including No. 5 Penn State and No. 8 Texas A&M.

Hendrix, a 5-9 outside hitter, has stepped up to lead the TCU offense this season. She ranks ninth in the Big 12 with 3.78 kills per set and has totaled 204 kills. The Scottsdale, Arizona, native has recorded at least 10 kills in 12 of the Frogs’ 15 matches, including a career-high 32 against No. 23 Missouri.

Playing all six rotations, Hendrix’s impact on the game is felt in all facets. She is averaging 2.69 digs per set and has eight double-doubles on the year. Hendrix has also added 26 blocks and seven aces to her name.

Kelley, a 6-3 outside hitter, has taken her game to the next level after an All-Big 12 Rookie Team campaign last season. With 168 kills in 2025, she is averaging just a tick under 3.00 kills per set for the Frogs. The Rockwall, Texas, product has double-digit kills in 10 matches so far and is coming off a career-best 21 in TCU’s win over No. 18 Kansas.

Her presence in the front row has been a game-changer on both sides of the ball. Kelley ranks third on the team with 35 total blocks, helping TCU hold its opponents to a .176 hitting percentage.

The Watch List will be narrowed down in November to a group of semifinalists, and then the names of the finalists will be released before the AVCA Convention. The 2025 AVCA Player of the Year will be announced on Friday, Dec. 19, in Kansas City during the AVCA Convention.

The full watch list can be found here.
