Jaques, Panagopoulos Conclude Seasons at NCAA First Round Meet

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lehigh senior Wil Jaques and first-year Konstantinos Panagopoulos capped their respective seasons Wednesday as the NCAA East First Round meet opened up at UK Track and Field Complex.
 
Jaques competed Wednesday morning in the javelin, finishing in 31st place. Panagopoulos then took to the long jump Wednesday evening, wrapping up his debut campaign with a 36th place finish.
 
Both athletes needed to finish top 12 to advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon next month.
 
Jaques’ best throw was his second, which sailed 63.17m. He threw 62.23m in his first attempt and 59.00m flat in his final throw.
 
A two-time East First Round qualifier, Jaques surpassed the mark of 61.56m from his trip to the meet in 2024.
 
Panagopoulos’ best attempt was also his second as he leapt 7.21m. He cleared 7.00m in all three of his attempts to eclipse the 7m mark for the fourth time in the outdoor season. Panagopoulos jumped 7.11m and 7.10m in his first and third attempts.
 
Both Jaques and Panagopoulos were coming off silver medals at the Patriot League Championships behind season-best performances.
