GOLF, Ill. (SMU) – SMU women’s golf sits in second place at the Windy City Classic after two rounds from Glen View Golf Club.

The Mustangs are facing a field that includes four top 25 teams and two teams receiving votes. The Mustangs held second place after a six-under round one that saw SMU trail hosts Northwestern (ranked 10th in the nation) by four strokes and lead third place Duke (ranked No. 9 in the nation) by one stroke. The Mustangs were in contention for the lead throughout the second round before ending the day trailing Northwestern by two strokes. SMU has built a four stroke lead on the third place team Michigan State. The Mustangs will look to add to their trophy case during the final round on Tuesday.

Senior Emily Odwin holds a tie for fifth place after a strong two-round showing. She shot one under in round one with just one bogey before shooting three-under with five birdies and two bogeys in round two. The two rounds in the red gave her 30 rounds of par or better in her career, ranking seventh all-time for a Mustang.

Making her first appearance in the Mustang lineup, freshman Uma Bergner shot a 71 in both rounds. In round one, she birdied six times including four on the back nine. Bergner holds a share of 12th.

Junior Celine Chen rebounded from a 75 in round one with a 68 in round two. She moved up 28 spots during the back half of the day. Chen shot a 33 on the front nine of round two. She sits in a tie for 16th.
