NFL news: Broncos cut OLB Drew Sanders from injured reserve

The Denver Broncos have officially moved on from outside linebacker Drew Sanders.

Denver initially waived Sanders with an injury designation when the club set its 53-man roster last week. After he cleared waivers, Sanders reverted to the team’s injured reserve list.

The Broncos officially waived Sanders from IR on Tuesday, ending his time with the club, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.

“[I]t’s difficult because you watch the process, and the effort, and the calories, and the energy and the amount of time — I know, more than anyone, he was frustrated,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said after Sanders was waived. “So those are never easy because the make-up and the toughness, it really came down to just the injuries. That’s always difficult.”
