NFL news: Broncos sign Super Bowl champion safety Taylor Rapp

The Denver Broncos are signing veteran safety Taylor Rapp to their practice squad, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

Rapp (6-0, 208 pounds) signed with Denver on Aug. 20 but was released on Aug. 26 to focus on a personal situation at home. Rapp returned to the club’s facility on Friday for a tryout, and he is now back on the team.

Rapp will begin on the practice squad, giving him time to get into football shape. The Broncos can elevate him from the practice squad to the game-day roster up to three times, giving them some early-season roster flexibility.

The 28-year-old Rapp won Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams following the 2021 NFL season. More recently, he played for the Buffalo Bills from 2023-2025. Rapp has totaled 488 tackles, 31 pass breakups and 12 interceptions in 93 career games (72 starts). He will now provide additional depth at safety behind behind Brandon Jones and Talanoa Hufunga in 2026.
