Daejon Love, a 35-year-old man from California, is currently facing wire fraud charges after he scammed multiple women for $1.3M by pretending to be a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver.

The FBI arrested Daejon in Boise, Idaho on August 24 alongside his accomplice Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, who faked being a financial advisor. The scandal has since been making the rounds on social media.

According to court documents, Daejon and Taylor began this alleged scheme in February 2022 and kept at it until their arrests earlier this week.

The conman built his social media persona as someone who has been training for the NFL and has close relationships with some legitimate players, including Antonio Brown, Tyreek Hill, and Jordan Love. He posed as a wealthy athlete with his feed filled with him in 49ers gears and flexing luxury cars.

With this online facade, Daejon Love lured 26 women across California, Oregon, Idaho, and Washington through dating apps. He got them to invest huge amounts of money into fake real estate schemes and ghosted them once the money was wired.

OutKick reporter Dan Zaksheske shared a clip from 2024 on X where Daejon faked signing an NFL contract for the 49ers. In another photo, Daejon appeared with a customized 49ers jersey themed cake with his last name and supposed jersey number ‘7’ on it.

Daejon allegedly sent these media proofs to women to convince them he was actually signing with the NFL.

Daejon Love romance-baited women by sending them false investment statements

Daejon Love reportedly coaxed the women he entrapped into his scam to believe they were in a serious romantic relationship with him. He purported to boast a fortune worth nearly $30M with Taylor Jamie Chan helping him as his investment advisor.

Court documents stated Daejon used false bank statement generating apps to create fabricated bank balance receipts and sent them to his victims. He further included Taylor on his FaceTime calls with the victims to have the latter convince the women to invest, promising significant returns.

Daejon and Taylor also allegedly persuaded some of the women to take out loans to invest in his fabricated ventures. One woman whom Daejon met in March 2025 ended up sending him more than $17K but “did not receive any confirmation of the investments”, per the court filing.

When authorities arrested them from Boise Airport on Monday, they learned the two were in Idaho to scam potential new victims. As stated by a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office District of Oregon, Daejon Love and Taylor Jamie Chan were booked on charges of “conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.”
