A meeting that could determine the future of a high-ranking official within the Miami-Dade County Republican party is set to take place on Monday after a group chat allegedly involving young Republicans sparked an investigation.
The secretary of the Miami-Dade Republicans, Abel Carvajal, is accused of starting a group chat on WhatsApp that included dozens of racist, antisemitic and violent comments.
The chat involved students with connections to FIU’s College Republicans and also the university’s Turning Point USA chapter.
Recently, TPUSA’s chapter president resigned from the position.
Carvajal has not responded to NBC6’s calls or text messages for comment.
The meeting on Monday evening with the Miami-Dade Republican Party will discuss removing Carvajal as secretary.
