MADISON, Wis. — As the Spring and Fall elections quickly approach, Wisconsin Democrats are putting the Republican Party and their candidates on defense as they continue to pummel them in fundraising and voter enthusiasm. This comes on the heels of the last fundraising period where the WisGOP had an ethics complaint filed against them for not filing a report despite spending money on Lazar’s race—a clear and pathetic attempt to hide their anemic fundraising.
It’s not just the money — a flood of Wisconsin Republican leaders are retiring across the state, with two of their top GOP incumbents retiring before they lose in November.

“It is a completely different ballgame when, you know, you actually have to run under fair maps instead of the gerrymander that we had before. And ultimately, it’s going to force them to be accountable to the voters,” Remiker said.

“These retirements have largely confirmed what we had already thought, which is that we have an extraordinary opportunity this year in Wisconsin,” Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairman Devin Remiker said in an interview, referring to the GOP lawmakers who declined to run for re-election. “I think that a very potent disaster is brewing for Republicans, and it is my desire to capitalize on it by winning the Democratic trifecta.”

“Every day Wisconsinites have years and years of receipts showing not just how Republicans in the Legislature, but also conservative justices have tried to stack the deck against them — there’s no reason that a big donor would want to donate to a dying cause,” Shulman said. “Our voters are really motivated.”
