WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Winston-Salem State University assistant football coach Calvin Randall has been selected to participate in the prestigious NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with the Los Angeles Chargers during Phase 3 Weeks 1 and 2 from May 26 through June 4 in El Segundo, California.
Randall was selected from a nationwide pool of talented coaches for the professional development opportunity, which will take place at the Chargers’ state-of-the-art training facility, “The Bolt.”
The Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship was established by the NFL to provide talented coaches with opportunities to observe, participate, and gain hands-on experience with NFL organizations during offseason workout programs, minicamps, and training camps. The ultimate goal of the fellowship is to help participants earn full-time coaching positions in the National Football League.
All 32 NFL organizations participate annually in the program, which was designed as a vocational tool to increase the number of full-time minority coaches across the league. Fellows work closely with NFL coaching staffs while receiving mentorship and constructive feedback throughout the experience.
“This is an incredible opportunity for Coach Randall to continue growing professionally at the highest level of football,” said head coach Tory Woodbury. “Being selected for the Bill Walsh Fellowship speaks volumes about his work ethic, leadership, and football knowledge. We are excited to see him represent Winston-Salem State University and continue building valuable relationships within the NFL.”
During the fellowship, Randall will have the opportunity to work alongside Chargers coaches and personnel, gaining firsthand exposure to NFL operations, player development, practice organization, and advanced coaching strategies.
The fellowship has become one of the NFL’s premier coaching development initiatives and has helped launch the careers of numerous successful NFL coaches and coordinators throughout the league.
Randall’s selection continues to highlight the growing impact and visibility of Winston-Salem State University football on the national stage.
