Florida woman faces new felony after deputies report finding hidden cocaine during intake

A Florida woman’s attempt to enter jail ended with an extra felony charge after deputies say a body scanner uncovered hidden cocaine—and an unusual defense.

Deputies with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office say they arrested 30-year-old Reagan Cox on Saturday for resisting an officer during a traffic stop before she was taken into Brevard County Jail without incident.

That is, until her intake process, when deputies say they noticed an abnormality on a body scanner in Cox’s “lower body area.”

Deputies reportedly escorted Cox to a private room for a more thorough search where she reportedly tried to “shield her buttocks with her hand.” When deputies were able to get her to move her hand, a plastic bag containing 3.8 grams of cocaine fell to the floor.

According to a post to the sheriff’s office Facebook, Cox denied knowing about the cocaine, telling deputies someone must have placed it there during an “intimate encounter.”

An additional count of introducing contraband into a detention facility was subsequently added to her charges, per BCSO. She was released from custody the same day.
