U.S. President Donald Trump posted a message on Truth Social on Wednesday, August 12, asserting that the United States maintains “total control” over the Strait of Hormuz and will likely retain it. He further stated that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is “shattered,” its forces are fleeing, and the status of Iran’s leadership is “uncertain at best.”
In his post, Trump wrote: “The U.S. has total control over the Strait of Hormuz. I think we will keep it.” Referring to the U.S. naval blockade against Iran, he added that it is widely referred to as a “wall of steel” and that “there is nothing Iran can do to counter it.”
Trump went on to claim that Iran no longer possesses a functional navy or air force, and that remaining regular military personnel are not receiving pay. He characterized the IRGC as “shattered” with fleeing troops, while describing Iran’s leadership structure as deeply destabilized.
Addressing Iran’s economy, the U.S. president remarked that the country “has no money” and is “devastated.” Accusing Iranian state media of spreading “fake news,” he claimed Iran’s inflation rate has reached 300 percent and continues to climb.
Concluding his post, Trump referred to the Islamic Republic as the former “bully of the Middle East,” asserting that it no longer holds that position and is now “all talk and no action.”
