
LĪHU’E, Kaua’i – The University of Hawai’i women’s golf team improved nine strokes from its opening round score with a 7-over 295 Tuesday in Round 2 of the 28th Rainbow Wahine Invitational at the Ocean Course at Hokuala.
The Rainbow Wahine moved up one spot to 15th place with a 599 total. Santa Clara leapfrogged Round 1 leader Baylor to lead the team standings at 571. Baylor is second at 574 followed by Missouri (575), Nevada (582), and BYU (585).
UH is led by Jasmine Wong, who carded even par 72 and is tied for 21st at 2-over 146. Maline Kraus and Chloe Ku each shot 73. Kraus is tied for 44th at 5-over 149 while Ku is one stroke behind at 6-over 150. Emiko Sverduk posted her second straight 77 and is tied for 83rd at 154 while Kaydence Kim is 109th at 163.
Three other Rainbow Wahine are competing as individuals – Sofina Firouzi (76=151, t-58th), Varnika S. Achanta (79=152, 69th), and Wendy Song (WD).
Baylor’s Yurang Li and San Diego State’s Ema Narita continue to share the lead at 5-under 139 after each shot even par on Tuesday. Baylor’s Silje Ohma is also tied for the lead after a 2-under 70.
The third and final round is scheduled for Tuesday with a 9:00 a.m., shotgun start.
