Interstate 279 (Parkway North) was closed to southbound traffic for several hours Thursday evening because of an overturned truck in Allegheny County.A tractor-trailer crashed and rolled onto its side, causing PennDOT to close southbound I-279 between I-79 and Exit 8 (Camp Horne Road).Pennsylvania State Police said the truck was carrying approximately 46,000 pounds of steel coils. No injuries were reported.At one point, southbound traffic backups were stretching north of the Wexford exit on I-79. I’ve been in traffic for the last hour, at least,” Cameron Huffmyer told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 at a gas station off Mt. Nebo Road.For Huffmyer, what should have been a 15-minute drive from Warrendale to West View turned into an hour. “I took down 79, and I was going to try to go on 279, but obviously it was closed, so I kept going and I’m down at Mt. Nebo now,” Huffmyer said.
