Government Degree College Nobra conducted a sanitation drive on World Environment Day.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, 5 June 2026, both teaching and non-teaching staff members of GDC Nobra carried out a Sanitation Drive in and around the college campus.
The initiative aligned with this year’s World Environment Day theme, “Inspired by Nature – For Climate.
For Our Future.” The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), which leads the global observance, designates the day to promote worldwide awareness and action for environmental protection, with a special focus on climate change and nature-based solutions under the slogan #NowForClimate.
All the staff members executed the drive successfully to collect waste, which was then segregated and properly disposed of with assistance from the Disket Waste Segregation Centre. While addressing the gathering, Principal Mr. Rigzin Sandup emphasized everyone’s responsibility to maintain cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable surroundings by adopting a minimalist lifestyle and practicing daily waste management. Participants concurred that such initiatives should be held regularly to foster civic responsibility and a stronger connection with nature.
