What to Know

  • The Eagles visit Gillette Stadium for two joint practices — Wednesday and Thursday — ahead of Saturday’s preseason game against the Patriots.
  • Drake Maye and the Patriots offense, especially the wide receivers, played great against the Eagles defense.
  • Patriots safety Craig Woodson was very impactful and had two interceptions. Patriots defense had five interceptions overall.
  • Patriots ended practice with successful two-minute drives on both sides of the ball.
  • These teams will have another joint practice Thursday.

The much-anticipated joint practices between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles started Wednesday at Gillette Stadium.

Round 1 goes to the Patriots.

The Patriots were without question the better team in the first practice.

Drake Maye was accurate (15-for-18 in 11-on-11 periods) and in command of the offense. A.J. Brown had four catches in 11-on11s, including a highlight-reel grab over Eagles cornerback Riq Woolen. The run game was effective, especially on the left side with Will Campbell and Alijah Vera-Tucker leading the way. The defense impressed, too, and forced five interceptions. The Patriots run defense struggled a bit early on, though.

These teams will get together for one more joint practice on Thursday before Saturday’s preseason matchup.
