Marc S. Horowitz of Orange Brook Elementary arrested – NBC 6 South Florida

A Broward County Public Schools assistant principal has been reassigned following an off-campus incident that led to his arrest, BCPS confirmed Sunday afternoon.

Marc S. Horowitz, an assistant principal at Orange Brook Elementary School in Hollywood, was arrested Sunday in Weston, according to Broward Sheriff’s Office booking records.

NBC6 contacted BCPS for a statement regarding the arrest.

“He is being reassigned from the school following an off-campus incident, pending further Human Resources review and action, which may include termination,” BCPS spokesperson John J. Sullivan said.

“Broward County Public Schools holds its school leaders to the highest standards of professional conduct and takes matters that may fall short of those standards seriously,” Sullivan added.

Horowitz, 53, faces charges of robbery by sudden snatching without a firearm or weapon and battery involving domestic violence, according to booking information.

The BCPS employee was taken into custody in Weston and transported to the county jail.
