SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—Members of the University of Hawai’i men’s tennis team continued to compete at the Big West Fall Invite on Friday at the Arnnhold Tennis Center. Senior Azuma Visaya stayed alive in the singles main draw fighting his way back for a three set singles win.
 
Visaya, who is ranked No. 65 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association(ITA) fell by just a break in the first set against Cal Poly’s Raz Haviv. But Visaya rallied back to win the final two sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. The win by Visaya propels him into the semifinals on Saturday.
 
In consolation matches, both Timothy Li and Kent Mueller both notched their first victories as Rainbow Warriors. Li cruised to a straight-set win over Cal Poly’s Sean Kamyshev, 6-2, 6-2, while Mueller was leading 5-3 in the first set when his opponent, Rui Ning Huang of UC Irvine, withdrew due to injury.
 
In the Round of 16 in doubles, UH’s Kosuke Nakanishi and Mueller fell just short by a break to UC Davis’ Kaveh Taheri and Lucas Bollinger, 8-6. UH’s top doubles pair of Li and Visaya had a bye in the Round of 15, but fell in the quarterfinal round to UC Davis’ Perry Di Gilio and Rithvit Katpelty, 8-5,
 
The Big West Fall Invite continues on Saturday at the Arnhold Tennis Center on the campus of UC Santa Barbara.
