U-M to Open Big Ten Play at No. 22 Ohio State
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan women’s soccer team (3-4, 0-0 Big Ten) begins its conference schedule at 7 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 12) against No. 22 Ohio State (4-1-1, 0-0 Big Ten) at Jesse Owens Memorial Field. The Wolverines are seeking consecutive wins for the second time in 2025 against the streaking Buckeyes, who have won four straight contests. The matchup will be streamed live on B1G+.
• Michigan and Ohio State are 15-15-6 in the historic rivalry dating back to 1994. The Buckeyes earned a 2-1 win in last year’s meeting after scoring two unanswered goals in the second half.
• Gabrielle Prych and Elle Ervin are tied for the team lead in goals with four each, accounting for eight of Michigan’s 10 goals so far this season.
• Ervin started the season hot with goals in each of the first four games and is tied for the sixth-most points in the Big Ten this season (10). The sophomore also leads the team with new career highs in shots (20) and shots on target (10).
• Adi Walick has assisted on half the Wolverines’ goals this year. Her five total assists and 0.71 assists per match are tied for most in the Big Ten, ranking seventh and 12th in the NCAA, respectively.
• In her first season as the primary goalkeeper, senior Sophie Homan has logged two clean sheets and ranks in the top 10 in the Big Ten with 562 minutes played. She is also tied for fourth in the conference with 24 saves, a new career high.
• Gabrielle Prych is on pace for a career year, having already logged four goals through six contests in 2025. Her previous best scoring mark was five goals, set back in 2023, when she played over 1,000 minutes in 16 games.
• U-M is 1-4-2 against OSU when the Buckeyes are ranked inside the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll. The Wolverines have yet to defeat Ohio State when the Buckeyes are ranked and Michigan is not.
• Michigan kicks off a two-game home stand on Thursday, Sept. 18, against USC before a bout with UCLA on Sunday, Sept. 21, at U-M Soccer Stadium.
