Dawgs In Striking Distance At The Big Ten Championships

NORTH PLAINS, Ore. – Washington men’s golf is in solo second following 36 holes of the Big Ten Championships at Pumpkin Ridge.
 
The Dawgs shot an even par round (280) today to sit at 1-over overall (561) for the tournament.

“Up and down kinda day, head coach Alan Murray said. “We had a bit of everything but we played hole 18 well so it gives us a chance headed into the final round. We need to play a good final round and need a little help from UCLA who played a great round today.”

 

Finn Koelle led the charge today for Washington, moving nine spots up the leaderboard into a tie for seventh. Koelle went 2-under (68) on his round that was highlighted by an eagle on the final hole. It is his third time this season shooting 68 to match a season-best. He is 1-under overall for the tournament.

 

Grady Millar matched his round yesterday, shooting even par (70) to be one of 11 players even or better for the tournament.

 

Jacob Goode bounced back from his round yesterday with an even par (70) run today. He is 7-over for the tournament and moved up 21 spots into a tie for 59th.

 

Jake Foley was the final score counted for the Dawgs, shooting 72 (+2). His round was highlighted by a hole-out eagle on the par-4 fourth. Foley is 4-over for the tournament and in a tie for 35th.

 

Freshman Emil Herstad shot 3-over (73) today to round out the lineup. He is still in the Top 15 for the tournament at 1-over.

“All of our guys have been under par at some point during their rounds this week so we just need to keep doing what we have been and try make a few more putts,” Murray added. “Excited for what tomorrow will bring.”

 

Washington will play alongside UCLA and Illinois in the final group for the final round beginning at 11:10 a.m. PT off hole No. 1. Live scoring can be found on Clippd and Big Ten Network will air the round beginning at 2:30 p.m. PT.
