Hana Shimada – Hip Hop Success – Ngā Puna O Waiōrea

In July Hana Shimada, a Year 13 student at WSCW traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to take part in the World Hip-Hop International competition as part of the IDCO group young ID.

The group came second in their division – Junior Varsity MegaCrew. Hana describes it as ‘an amazing experience. It was really cool getting to see how every country interprets Hip Hop differently.

Being part of this award group is an amazing achievement for Hana and we are very proud of her! Han has been part of the Hip Hop group for three years. She loves the community aspect of it and has made some good friends. Hana’s advice to young people wanting to become a high level Hip Hop dancer is that they will need to work hard as it’s really competitive, but also really rewarding!
