Quakes shake Northern California, San Ramon on Sunday – The Mercury News

A 4.7 magnitude earthquake shook parts of Northern California on Sunday afternoon, the United States Geological Survey reported.

The quake occurred at 4:41 p.m. in Lassen County, about 9 miles outside of Susanville, and had a radius of 15 kilometers and depth of 5 kilometers, the USGS said. The agency had initially said the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.0 before downgrading it to 4.7.

A smaller 2.8 magnitude earthquake also shook San Ramon at 11:56 a.m. Sunday, reaching a depth of 6.5 kilometers, according to the United States Geological Survey.
