President Donald Trump hasn’t been shy about his love for big sporting events.
He’s hosting a huge UFC fight on the White House lawn to celebrate his birthday this Sunday. He turned midtown Manhattan into a frozen zone when he attended the Knicks game earlier this week.
He’s been to the Super Bowl, the men’s singles final at the U.S. Open tennis center in Queens, the Daytona 500, and plenty more big-time events.

It’s no wonder, then, that two sources familiar with the plans tell NBC News the president wants to attend the FIFA World Cup 2026 final at NY/NJ Stadium (formerly MetLife) on July 19.
A White House official confirmed to NBC News the administration was “holding it” on the president’s schedule.

The first of eight World Cup matches to be played at NY/NJ Stadium is Saturday, between Brazil and Morocco.
World Cup fans, facing staggering transit costs associated with the globe’s most-watched sporting event, have been talking for months about potentially walking to the stadium.
Officials say don’t even think about it.
