Par for the Course: Sullivan “Splurged” on Golf Resort Getaways With Campaign Dime
As the Masters Golf Tournament wrapped up on Sunday, new reporting reveals that DC Dan Sullivan is likely itching to get back on the golf course with his special interest backers on campaign dime. Sullivan has burned through six figures of donor dollars at luxurious golf resorts, including more than $132,000 on several trips to the “premier luxury” oceanfront Kiawah Island Golf Resort, where suites run upwards of $2,700 a night.
“While Alaskans are stretched thin by high prices, Self-Serving Sullivan is teeing off at $2,700-a-night resorts with special interest donors,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft. “This is exactly the kind of DC self-dealing that Alaskans hate: politicians who live the good life on the dime of big money donors, while taking votes that force their constituents to pay more at the pump and the grocery store. We’ll reject Sullivan in November, and he’ll have plenty of free time to golf in the Lower 48.”
Last week’s report documents Sullivan’s spending spree: hundreds of thousands of campaign dollars doled out for luxurious resorts and elite “ultra-discreet” DC steakhouses, where lobbyists rub shoulders,” all while Sullivan was voting to raise costs for Alaskans – gutting healthcare, food assistance for veterans, emergency alert systems, and other critical services.
