After an exhaustive 6 month deep dive of the Epstein Files, I have as many questions as answers. But I propose one thing. Whether Trump raped girls or not (personally, I think he did – bday card, survivor journal, etc), Russian money laundering is the main legal reason he is terrified of Epstein and Gmax and what he's primarily trying to hide. They knew he'd been laundering money through his properties for decades.
Their falling out over the Rybolovlev property is when he lost Epstein as an ally. Nothing to do with girls at Mar a Lago.
I think they didn't just have preying on girls in common – they bonded over hiding/laundering money – which we know Epstein was incredible at ever since his early days at Bear Sterns.
Unlike on the issue of rape, which as you can see in the first :35 of this video, Epstein couldn't comment on re Trump without implicating himself – Epstein seemed willing to go to the press with this knowledge of Trump's money laundering.

In general, Deutsche Bank is a key player in this theory. Used by both Trump and Epstein, and, as is public knowledge, notoriously lax with Russian money laundering and "mirror trading" leading to billions of dollars of illegal activity.

Another Trump private banker at Deutsche Bank, William S. Broeksmit, who reportedly had links to Russia, hung himself from a dog leash at his home in London in 2014. Left by his side was a neat stack of company documents related to Deutsche’s New York banking operations, a unit that had recently loaned to Trump and was later found to be laundering $10b out of Russia's Moscow branch.

1970s-1980s, Robert Maxwell (RM) is KGB trustee to launder, hold and invest expatriated funds.
1980s-1991, RM funds DJT businesses with KGB money.
1988-1991, Epstein advises RM and DJT as businesses of both descend into bankruptcy; hiding funds from creditors and authorities.
Nov 1991, RM drowns.
1992-2005, Epstein advises Ghislaine Maxwell (GM) on extracting RM hidden funds, then used by Epstein and potentially by DJT.
2005, DJT publicly breaks with Epstein.
1992-2019, Epstein and GM build a financial/sexual exploitation business involving kompromat on high profile persons internationally.
2019-2020, Bannon/Epstein plan/shoot documentary mentioning DJT laundering.
Epstein then GM arrested. Epstein suicide.
2022: Ivana Trump (Soviet/Czech, father KBG) falls down stairs to her death one day before her adult children were scheduled to begin depositions in the New York Attorney General’s civil investigation into the Trump Organization’s finances

Update: Just to be clear – I by no means think this is the ONLY or WORST thing Trump has done, even with Epstein. It's just the one thing I think Trump knows Ghislaine could speak on (with solid evidence) without further incriminating herself.
The impetus for this was trying to answer 2 questions. 1) What exactly made Trump lose his mind calling MTG and Mace to try to swing the vote against releasing the files? 2) Why are nearly half of Republicans considering a Maxwell pardon?
