President Donald Trump went after Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) over the weekend over the leading defense hawk’s criticism of the emerging Iran deal.
Reed, ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, seemingly drew the president’s ire over a Fox News appearance in which he said Trump wanted to strike a deal with Iran as a “birthday present” to himself.
“The president wants to give himself a birthday present, and we have paid for it with hundreds of billions of dollars,” Reed said. “We’re getting basically less than what we had under [President Barack Obama’s Iran deal], which President Trump walked away from.”
